WWJD? Conflict

A typical Sheffield YL evening
Saturday 6th November Theme

Unplanned the younger ones in the group decided that if the program was on conflict then it would be great to have a pillow fight.  So they all turned up armed with pillows!

Before the program started and during the quiz Andy and Anne-Marie pretended to have a heated argument over the purchase of some really cheap nappies.

7:30pm Start
Quiz on Wars in History or The Bible
(Two teams have the aim of capturing toy Cowboys or
                     Indian's of each other)

Discussion
At the end of the quiz Andy was particularly nasty to Anne-Marie
who then stormed out the house pretending to be upset.
Anne-Marie was brought back in and everyone was let into the
secret that is was not a real argument
They were then all asked how what they felt like being in
                        the middle of a conflict.

Sketches
After each of the following sketches the group was asked to
contribute principles that you could apply to the situation in
                hand from the Bible.

  • Student arguing with teacher over unfinished homework
  • Child arguing with parent
  • Christians arguing over styles of worship
  • Neighbours over height of hedge

        Talk by Vince Alsop

9:30pm Ended with prayer
The Pillow Fight
Two people kneeled opposite each other at arms length.  They held their chosen pillow and held it in the hand opposite to their writing hand.  You lost by falling over or trying to gain balance by holding on to something.  A free hit was given to the opponent if a blow was delivered above the shoulder.
