"Love in the Christian sense of that word, has been defined as a purpose of making the Loved one great."

Henry Drummond
"Life is not a holiday, it is a lesson in Love"

Marie Curie
"Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood."

C.S.  Lewis
"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.  If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal.  Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements.  Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness.  But in that casket--safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change.  It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.  To love is to be vulnerable."  ~

Woodrow Kroll
"I would like to think this story is true, but I am not sure.
Cyrus king of Persia during one of his wars, captured a prince and his family.  He summoned the prince before his court to question him.
Cyrus 'How much will you give me to release your children?'
Prince 'Half of all I own', Cyrus was impressed
Cyrus 'How much will you give me to release yourself'
Prince 'All I own', Cyrus was impressed
Cyrus 'So how much will you give me to release your wife'
Prince 'Why I will give you my life', Cyrus was so impressed he released them all.
On the return journey, the prince asked his wife, 'Did you notice how handsome King Cyrus was?' 'No', his wife replied, 'as I could not keep my eyes of the one who was willing to give his life so I could go free.'"

(William Barclay, in New Testament Words, Philadelphia; The Westminster Press, 1974, 21-22.)
"Christian love, agape, is unconquerable benevolence, invincible good will. It is not simply a wave of emotion; it is a deliberate conviction of the mind issuing in a deliberate policy of the life; it is a deliberate achievement and conquest and victory of the will. It takes all of a man to achieve Christian love; it takes not only his heart; it takes his mind and his will as well.

Abraham Lincon
"The best way to get rid of an enemy is to turn him into a friend by being a friend to him."

Elixabeth Gouge
"Love is not some marvelous thing that you feel, but some hard thing that you do. And this in a way is easier because with God's hellp you can command your will when you can't command your fellings."

C H Spurgeon -  "Nature is selfish, but grace is loving. He who boasts that he cares for nobody, and nobody cares for him. The reverse is true of a Christian, for Jesus Christ enlarges the heart when he cleanses it."

Love thy neighbour
Two campers, Chris and Michael, are awakened by the sounds of an obviously large bear outside their tent, looking for food at their campsite.  Immediately, Chris pulls a pair of running shoes out of his backpack and
quickly puts them on.  Incredulous, his friend Michael says, "There's no way you can outrun that bear."  Chris replies, "I don't have to outrun the bear. I only have to outrun you"

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill.  In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill"?  Hands started going up.  He said, I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up.  He then asked, "Who still wants it?"  Still the hands were up in the air.  Well, he replied, What if I do this?  And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.  He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.  Now who still wants it?  Still the hands went into the air. My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.  No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.  It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.  We feel as though we are worthless.  But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value:  dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to your Heavenly Father who sent His son Jesus to die for your sins.  The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by "Who we are loved by".
