Billy Graham said he
"Preached with the Bible in one hand and the News Paper in the other."

"Whitefield and Wesley might preach the gospel better than I do, but they cannot preach a better gospel."

In 1533 when Anne Boleyn was expecting.  Archbishop Cranmer had to ask Hugh Latimer not to make his sermons longer than an hour and a half, as the Queen tired easily!

Wesley used to preach his sermons to his maid, and every time she couldn't understand anything he paid her money.

Wesley asked these two questions after preaching
             1) Anyone Saved ?
             2) Anyone upset ?

Archbishop Coggan
"Christian leaders are to feed the sheep, not entertain the Goat."

Ralph Emmerson
"Allas the unhappy man that is called to stand in the pulpit, and gives not the bread of life"

Preaching Preparation Essentials
Prayer, Piety, Purity, Practice, Private Study

Question
Do you love Preaching or People ?

R.M.M'Cheyne
"I fear the love of applause or effect goes a great way.  May God keep me from preaching myself instead of Christ crucified"
"Enlarge my heart, and I shall run" said David "Enlarge my heart, and I shall preach"

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail!

When preaching the Gospel
             1) Establish the Fact
             2) Expose the Danger
             3) Explain the Remedy
             4) Encourage a Response
Also
             1) Interest the Mind
             2) Instruct the Will
             3) Ignite the Heart
Also you need when preaching
             1) Determination
             2) Effort
             3) Energy, Energy & Energy

E.M.Bounds
"As the engine never moves until the fire is kindled, so preaching, with all its machinery, perfection and polish, is at a dead standstill.  As far as spiritual results are concerned, till prayer has kindled and created the steam.  The texture, fineness and strength of the sermon is as much rubbish unless the mighty impulse of prayer is in it, through it and behind it."

It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.

The phrase that is guaranteed to wake up an audience: "And in conclusion."

If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has.

To make a long story short, don't tell it.
